WHERE | This spot is located along Te Ngea Rd (Route 30) north of the terminal and is nothing else than a small unpaved dirt turning pad along the western roadside. You can stop/park with your car right there and can see the runway from here with the Te Kāramuramu Bay beautifully in the background. |
WHAT | From here you can see the northern part of the runway and thus all runway 18R/36L movements. |
TIME | Good from sunrise till noon roughly. |
MISC. | Nothing needed here, nothing around. Be aware that the shooting window is a bit limited by some hangars and trees left and right, so you have to be quick. |
FOCAL LENGTH | 100-400mm ATR72 = 145mm |
Williton Road (The S/East side nearest R36) Is a pretty good spot, a ladder or other means (I stand on the roof of my car) is needed for height.
