Aitutaki (AIT/NCAI) is the second biggest airport/airfield on the Cook Islands and handles a few daily flights to/from Rarotonga Avarua (the gateway to the Cook Islands). Normally all landings/departures are „Air Rarotonga“ Saab 340s or Embraer 120s, which are serving the routes RAR-AIT or AIT-RAR in about 50 minutes normally.
General Information | |
Security | Spotting is absolutely no issue here. |

---|---|
WHERE | This spot is located just by the fence of Aitutaki Airport and can easily be reached by bike or foot. Honestly you can spot wherever you want, because the airport isn‘t that big and the fence is always just about one meter high. |
WHAT | All airport activities, it doesn‘t matters, if it‘s a departure, arrival or something on the apron. |
TIME | Depending on the angle and your exact position, but at the position we used, which is marked on the map exactly, light is good from noon till sunset. |
MISC. | No ladder needed and nothing really nearby, but normally you won‘t stay here for a long time – traffic is quite uninteresting after a few days. Security and „parking“ are no problems here. |
FOCAL LENGTH | 70-300mm |
