Jandakot Airport (IATA: JAD, ICAO: YPJT) is an Australian general aviation airport located near Perth International in Western Australia. It’s the major general aviation airport in WA and one of the busiest airfields and largest aviation training bases in Australia. Below you will find the three major spots that local spotters used otherwise you can easily drive around the airport and find places throw the fences where you can take pictures and leave.
Why visiting Jandakot Airport? Jandakot may interesting about the numbers of flights of small props aircraft during a day. Lot’s of Cessna, Grob, Piper, Pilatus, helicopters, Beechcraft, Waco, Tiger Moth, Air Tractor, Robin, Partenavia, Extra 300, etc. You will be able to get some Singapore Airlines Training School but also China Southern Airlines Training School which are operating on Cessna’s.

Spot #1 – Viewing Area | |

WHERE | Getting there is easy – from Roe Highway (near Kwinana Freeway), take Karel Avenue exit and follow the signs to Jandakot Airport, passing Spud Shed on the way. You will reach a roundabout and need to turn right, along Eagle Drive. As you go up and just over the hill past the control tower, the entrance is on your left. |

WHERE | Getting there is easy – from Roe Highway (near Kwinana Freeway), take Karel Avenue exit and follow the signs to Jandakot Airport, passing Spud Shed on the way. You will reach a roundabout and need to turn right, along Eagle Drive to the end.There is a public car park (ticket machines parking) opposite to the Aero Club.Alternatively, Transperth operates a bus service (routes 515 and 516) between Murdoch Station and Jandakot Airport.Located to the north of Runway. |

WHERE | The spot is located in the north of the airport so from spot 1 follow “Eagle Dr” until the roundabout continue strait onto “Compass Road” and follow the road until to reached the end of it. |
WHAT | Only arrivals runway 24R and aircraft calibrations. You can’t park here so stay close to it, do what you want to do and leave. |
TIME | From approx 1300 to sunset. |
MISC. | There is nothing there so bring what you need with you or drive to the Aviators Cafe to have some drinks and foods. |

My friend and I are going to be visiting Australia for a two week spotting trip.
Can I ask if it’s possible to visit school of flying companies to take a look in their hangers or a tour maybe.
