Waterbury-Oxford Airport (OXC/KOXC) – often referred to as Oxford Airport by those in the area is a general aviation and business aviation airport. It is located in Oxford, Connecticut, in the Naugatuck Valley region of the state. While the vast majority of the airport’s traffic is general aviation and business aviation (including helicopters), the airport often sees military aircraft, most commonly in the form of Sikorsky helicopters on test flights from the factory in Stratford, CT, they bring aircraft multiple times a day, most days of the week. The airport also sees smaller military aircraft, which use it as a location for refueling during transatlantic flights, in addition in rarer cases smaller cargo aircraft such as CRJ-200s and Metroliners pay a visit.
While there are no scheduled airline operations, Tradewind Aviation who operate scheduled and private charter flights with a fleet of Pilatus PC-12’s are based out of the airport. Also located at the airport are multiple maintenance facilities including a Clay Lacy MRO facility. Currently under construction is a Clay Lacy FBO which will accompany the current Atlantic FBO at the field.
In addition, it is important to mention that many business aircraft operators choose to block their aircraft on public trackers such as FlightRadar24, thus they will not be seen on the arrivals/departures section, though they can still be seen on trackers such as ADS-B Exchange. Trust, if you spend a short period of time at the airport you will see aircraft flying.
