Lexington Blue Grass Airport (LEX/KLEX) is the main airport serving Lexington, Kentucky. It is the 3rd busiest airport in the state, following CVG and SDF. In 2019, the aiport welcomed 1.36 million travelers. The airport serves 14 destinations through 4 airlines: Allegiant, American Eagle, Delta/Delta Connection and United Express. One unique aspect of Lexington is the horse culture. Lexington is considered the horse capital of the United States and is home to several horseracing tracks. As a result, the airport often receives shipments of horses on cargo planes like the 727.
