Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International airport, is the main airport of the Province of Manitoba, Canada with a bunch of interesting and unique traffic as the newcomer Canadian Swoop or the local resident C-130 and Dash-8 in various variants of RCAF. YWG is located on the west, not far from the city centre in a very nice residential area and is also home of the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada.
If you are looking for a busy airport this isn’t the best one, but if you are in Winnipeg (in spring or summer!) spending some hours at the airport is a wise choice. You can see Perimeter, Calm Air, Air Canada, Westjet, Flair and even the new LCC Swoop, plus a lot of aircraft and helicopter business and private traffic. A welcome add-on to that is the local RCAF’s Air Base with its C-130s and Dash-8s operating from the airport and often running take-off and landing training.
