London Luton Airport is an international airport located 45km North of the City of London, and just to the east of the City of Luton. It is the fifth biggest airport in the United Kingdom, with 16,5 Million Passangers in 2018.
London Luton has a single, 2162 metre long runway and visited mainly business jets and low cost carriers. The airport is served by Blue Air, easyJet, El Al (Sometimes with Heavies), Ryanair, Sunexpress, TUI Airways, Vueling and Wizz Air in passanger service. Freight Services are provided by DHL and MNG Cargo.
With the single runway and more than 16 Mio. passengers the airport is an interesting target for planespotters. Sadly the traffic is dominated by the two low cost carriers easyJet and Wizz Air, so the variety of airline liveries is minor. But a pleasant change between these two carriers are the many many business jets flights, which making LTN more attractive.

Runway Usage | |
08/26 | There is no preference for either easterly or westerly operations so the runway end in use will depend entirely on the wind direction. |

|
---|---|
WHERE | From the terminal, walk southward through the tunnel and cross the street at the traffic lights. and walk up the street that goes upwards direction the fire station. As you can see on the sample below you are on a mound and from there it is no problem to clear the fence. But in general you can use every parking garage at the terminal and walk to this location. |

So now you need to try other parking garages at the terminal and walk to this location. UPDATE JAN 2024: this location is available again |

Spot 5
Holiday inn parking area has a CCTV controlled fee system £25 minimum charge so be aware. Not sure if it has any grace period
Spot 3 Dane Street
Spot 3 Dane Street has been reported as no longer accessible.
The farmer has got fed up with spotters trampling over his crops etc and blocked access.
Think the airport would take a dim view as this is crash gate access.
not true, im currently at dane street as im writing this
Hello guys. Is spot #2 available yet after the fire in October? And Thank you 🙏
Just been today, and it’s now available for use again
To verify but spot 2 may not be useable anymore due to a recent fire
Indeed, thanks for the notice.
-Julian
Do you have any news about spot 2?
Hello, is spot 2 useable in winter?
The area by the Holiday Inn is currently closed as the hotel is being used as a Quarantine Hotel.
Good evening, I was wondering if you had any experience of using the multi-story at Luton Airport parkway (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Luton+Parkway+Car+Park/@51.8714572,-0.3942398,178m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x48764817c8b8b735:0xb84df43dc8e8855d!8m2!3d51.871617!4d-0.3954488)
And if that would give a different angle?
Many thanks
The old, lower fences along the south perimeter were replaced a few years ago with higher ones. For Spot 3 I would suggest at least a 4-step ladder is needed to photograph above the fence / between the barbed wire. More steps if you want to be above the barbed wire.
Thanks for the info. I have updated the guide.
