Near the A-23 between Zaragoza and Valencia, Teruel airport is mostly known because of the boneyard created by Tarmac Aerosave in 2013. Also many Transaero still stored at Teruel with specials liveries. Teruel is also a maintenance airport and you can see many different aircraft from different companies (many Europeans).
There is no schedule traffic in and out of TEV. Aircraft that can be seen however, it changed a lot months after months (KLM, Lufthansa, Transaero, China Eastern, HiFly, GermanWings, Utair & Etihad Airways. Regular airlines for the maintenance, Air X Charter, Azul, Avianca & HiFly. No security issue at all.

Thanks to Adrian Nowakowski for the photo.
Visited on 21st of December, 2022 and there is a lot of new infrastructure. Spot 1 with the “Aeropuerto de Teruel” 737 is now covered with new maintenance hangers. I believe the 737 has been moved to the right of the terminal building (looking from a satellite view) and is barely viewable because there is another fence. You can still get shots from spot 1 but it will be further west and it is not as easy to go up to the fence (dirt roads etc.). Still…not a bad spot necessarily. Spots 2 and 3 haven’t changed at all although spot 3 takes some effort (as noted) to drive down the dirt road and get up close. Our rental car was totally fine but we drove slowly/carefully and it was worth it.
Okay thanks for the update. I moved the spot 1 westwards and changed the description. Some new photos would be nice too 🙂

Latest update on spotting in Teruel:
Airport security drives along Spot 1 and stopped me taking pictures along the road. After short and friendly chat with them they mentioned that they assure the customers / airlines discretion by contract.
Nevertheless stopping the car at any position is tolerated to get the registrations.
Be aware that driving / walking to Spot 3 from the west after a rain shower might be swampy and you can get easily stuck with the car !
In case there is early morning fog it will disappear in the summertime usually around 9am.
I would also like to know if there are any restrictions on photography at this airport? I am considering a lengthy drive there to check it out!
We had no problems during our stay a couple of months ago. If you stay outside of the boundaries everything will be fine.

Many thanks!!
Due to flight restriction I’ll have to drive from BCN to Badajoz to return home.
Think it’s worth a 100km+ drive to check the quarantined birds? Would be ok with cops/airport staff an hour or two of spotting right at dawn?
