Lamezia Terme Airport is a medium airport located in southern Italy and 9km south of Lamezia Terme city. The airport overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea but the sea water is very polluted due toxic waste and factories nearby, so there is a ban of bathing.
he principals movement in this airport are generated by low-cost companies Ryanair, EasyJet and WizzAir. In the summer season, the traffic at the airport duplicates, with more business jets flight, especially Saturdays, and many additional charter flights from all over Europe. A special feature in the summer is the route to Toronto, Canada operated by Air Transat and the 787 Neos from Milan Malpensa Airport. The cargo traffic is only operated by Poste AirCargo from Brescia Airport. Lamezia Airport doesn’t have a cargo terminal, but is planned to build it by 2023. Another features of the airport is the military base of 2th aviation regiment “Sirio” and the base of the Italian firefighter aircrafts Canadair.
