Located 30km north-west of Bandar Lampung, precisely in the village of Branti, sub district of Natar, South Lampung Regency, Lampung Radin Inten II Intl. Airport (TKG/WILL) is the 19th busiest airport in Indonesia and 5th busiest airport in Sumatra Island. The airport handled roughly 2.6 million passengers in 2018 and served with particular national airlines such as Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, Sriwijaya Air, Lion Air, Batik Air, and some regional airlines like Wings Air, NAM Air, and Transnusa. The airport has a passenger terminal, a cargo terminal, and a single runway.

Car/Public Transport | Most spots are reachable by car, or you can use online taxis like “Grab” which has more affordable costs. Since no bike taxis on South Lampung (it means only car-based online taxi are available), it is recommended to bring or rent a motorcycle. You can contact a local plane spotters and railfan for more information. |

Drinks/Food | There are some restaurants, mini market or coffee shops in spot #1 and #4, or a small drink kiosk at spot #6. |
Hotels | Hotels are available around the airport. Best for watching the action is the restaurant on Radin Inten Hotel (spot #5). |
Season | The best months to travel are around April to September (norther summer) as you may be able to spot for all day long, or around May to July on school holidays. |

Spot #1 – Observation Deck (Carpark Rooftop) – Apron + 14/32 runway movements | |

WHERE | This spot is the newest plane spotting spot since 2017, making Radin Inten II Airport as the only Indonesian airport which providing an observation deck on the car park. Located inside the airport, on the upper level of the car park. After passed the entrance, turn left into the parking area, and go to fourth level. This is a popular spots on Radin Inten II Airport, not only for plane spotting, but also for another freelancer photographer for pre-wedding or hunting purposes. And also, local residents, friends or relatives from the passenger are usually gathered here to say farewell or welcoming their beloved ones. |
WHAT | It’s possible to take photo of traffics from Runway 14. Visible from this spot is the whole apron, terminal building, helipad, Jalinsum national road, and railroad. |
TIME | From 12 p.m. till sunset. Heat haze may occur during midday. |
MISC. | All you needs are available inside the airport, such as restaurant, mini market and coffee shops. Parking fee is IDR 3000 (USD 0.3) for first hour with additional IDR 2000 for each consecutive hours for motorcycle and IDR 4000 (USD 0.4) for the first hour with additional IDR 3000 for each consecutive hours for cars. Please ensure you must provide ELECTRONIC MONEY CARD which issued from state-owned enterprises bank (Indonesian : Himbara) like Brizzi from Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Tap Cash from BNI and e-money/e-toll card from Bank Mandiri. And then, since the installation of the fence on the rooftop, you can take a picture from a gap from the fence hole, use ladder or go to third level of the car park. |

Spot #2 – Jalinsum National Road – 14 Arrivals + Departures/Line-Ups | |

WHERE | Located on Jalinsum (Jalan Lintas Sumatra) national road near the end of runway 14, this spot is are one of several spotting place, not only by plane spotters but also by local residents. Previously all of departing aircraft from runway 14 are backtracking in front of the fence, but since the marking of new displaced threshold on runway 14, which also moved the end of runway 14, the spots is no more recommended for phone, pocket camera and DSLR kit lens users. |
WHAT | All arrivals and departure or let’s say line-Ups from runway 14. |
TIME | From 6 a.m. till sunset. |
MISC. | There are some small kiosk which sell coconut drinks and instant cup noodle. Do not too close with the fence and since the spot are located on national road, be careful with truck and bus from behind. |

Spot #3 – Radin Inten Hotel – 14/32 runway movements | |

WHERE | This spot is located on the restaurant of the “Radin Inten Hotel”, which is also located on Branti, at the same place with well-known “Begadang III” Minangnese restaurant. This hotel can be recommended generally as its very close to the runway. So the spot can be found at the hotel’s restaurant. This one is located on the hotels second floor, but can also reached without valid roomkey or similar. Just enter the hotel, go up to the restaurant and search your favourite position along the front. |

TIME | From early noon till sunset. |
MISC. | All you needs are available here. But it is recommended to avoid this place at meal time unless you are eating or as a hotel guest. |

Spot #4 – Branti Village – 14/32 runway movements | |
---|---|
WHERE | Located on the village of Branti, this spot is the third spot that is located in the middle of the residential area. Just make your way off the main road “JI. Lintas Sumatera” to the east onto the small “JI. Pagar Kuning” where you then just need to search your favourite spot along the fence at the street’s end. |
WHAT | Arrivals and departure for runway 32 as well as most 14 movements. |
TIME | From 10 a.m. till sunset. |
MISC. | Nearest mini market is available on Jalinsum road, but it is suggested to bring what you need here. You must asking permission to local residences for plane spotting here so maybe go and talk to the neighbours before taking pictures. Ladder also required here since the third fence could distract your view. |

Spot #5 – Branti Station – 14/32 runway movements | |
---|---|
WHERE | Branti Station is a one of several new railway station which opened on 2014, but it don’t served departing passengers because this is not a passengers stop and only allowed arriving passengers since 2019 and also the crossing of well-known Sumatran long coal freight train (Babaranjang). From the airport, turn left, and go straight until Begadang III restaurant (Spot #4). After that turn right and enter the small alley into the station. After passing the underpass, make a sharp turn to the left and turn right until the station. If you wish to go here by train, you may take Kuala Stabas train (premium economy class train) from Bandar Lampung and Baturaja. There are 2 trips of Kuala Stabas train per day, the ticket price is IDR 10000 (USD 1) from Bandar Lampung or Kotabumi and IDR 30000 (USD 3) from Baturaja, South Sumatra. |

MISC. | Nearest mini market is available on Jalinsum road, but it is suggested to bring what you need here. You must asking permission to station master or train dispatcher or security personnel for plane spotting here. Since Branti station is not serve departing passengers, all of the guests on this station must fill the “guest book”. DO NOT ENTER THE TRAIN DISPATCHER ROOM. |

Spot #6 – Branti Hills – 14/32 runway movements | |

WHERE | Located 2.5 km northwest from the airport on the border of South Lampung and Pesawaran Regency, Branti Hills is a rare, hidden and unexplored spot. You can take a picture of inbound traffic on runway 14 with different sensation. And also you can take a picture of passenger or freight train which passing between rice paddy, plantation, factory, national road and airport. From the airport, exactly opposite to the cargo terminal, turn left on railroad crossing (PJL 20), then turn right and go straight for 1.5 km. After that turn right and enter the small alley until you find the soil road. Park your car or motorcycle on foothills and walk 200 meters to the top of the hills. |

TIME | From 11 a.m. till sunset. |
MISC. | Nearest shop and market is close to PJL 20 railroad crossing. No facilities at this spot. At rainy season, the path could partially (or fully) muddled. Since it’s located far from residental area, you’re recommended to brings your personal needs and use shoes as there is a risk that a snake or another creatures might appear. Since this spot is NOT ACCESSIBLE by car or motorcycle, you may bring an additional keyguard or contact local planespotters for help. This spot is NOT RECOMMENDED for those who have health problems or are not strong enough to climb the hill. |
