August 6, 2022Royal International Air Tattoo – RIAT 2022
The Royal International Air Tattoo is the world largest military Airshow held every year in the third week of July at RAF Fairford. With about 200.000 spectators over the weekend it can get quite crowded. With Aircrafts from 31 different nations there is a good mix of different Planes and Helicopters in flying and static display.
As country of hosting the United Kingdom Forces are of course the largest exhibitor of the show with several planes and helicopters in flying and static display.
With the highlighted 75th Anniversary of the U.S. Air Force the U.S. Air Force attended with several aircraft including RIAT's largest guest, the Boeing E-4B. The only US aircraft on flying display was the Bell Boeing CV-22B Osprey.
Beside the UK and the USA the German Military Forces were quite present with several planes and helicopters from Army, Air Force and the Navy. With the Airbus A340-300 of the Government Transport wing the German Air Force showed the second largest Aircraft of the show.
The international highlights were for example Embraer KC-390 of the Brazil Air Force, the Kawasaki C-2 and the C-130H from Bahrain and Jordanian.
Display Teams were present from the Freece Tricolore, the RAF Red Arrows and of course the highlight the Black Eagles from South Korea.
The this years flying big formation flights were the RAF Red Arrows with the P-8 Poseidon on Firday, with an A330 Voyager and a mix combination display with the Black Eagles. A speical flypast were also presented on friday with the 2Excel Aviation Boeing 727 with 2 Extra 300 of the Bladed display team.
