The Albrecht Duerer Airport in Nuremberg (Nürnberg) is the 10th largest airport in Germany. In 2018 the airport handled 4,46 Million Passengers. NUE handles german airlines like Eurowings, Lufthansa, Lufthansa Regional, TUI, Corendon and SunExpress. The Airport is served by the european network carriers Austrian, Air France, KLM, British Airways, Swiss and Turkish Airlines.
In addition there are Charterflights of Bulgarian Air Charter, Corendon, Pegasus Airlines, Ryanair, Sunexpress and Wizzair. There are also sometimes US Army and Airforce etc (Omni, Atlas). flights besides many Buisnessjets and some Resuce helicopters.

Carpark P2 - All runway and most ramp/taxiway movements
WHERE | This spot is located on top of the Carpark P2 on the highest floor (12th floor). Parking directly in the carpark is very expensive as this is a buinesscarpark. Park your car as marked on the map at the short term parking and just walk up the stairs then. |
WHAT | This is a good spot for both runway directions. In the summer months there is often heat haze due to the distance. |
TIME | Best light conditions are from 08:00-16:00. |
MISC. | Restaurant/Supermarket inside the airport. Toilets in the first floor of the Carpark. You have to be on the top floor to be able to clear as much terminal building/poles as possible which are between you and the movements. Heat haze is a huge issue on the runway on warm days. |

Observation deck - All runway and most ramp/taxiway movements
WHERE | Park your car as marked on the map, go insde the terminal and follow the “Besucherterrasse” sign to the second level. |
WHAT | This spot is good for aircraft movements for both runway directions but it is behind glass. |
TIME | Best light conditions are from 08:00-16:00. |
MISC. | There are facilities inside the terminal. |

Tower - All runway movements, ramp
WHERE | Park your car as marked on the map next to the hangar and walk to the tower. Walk up from each side of the tower, either on the road to the gate or on the grassstrip to the fence. This spot can be reached by bus as well, just head for “Luftamt” bus stop with line 30 from the terminal westbounds. |
WHAT | From this spot you can take all plane movements on both runway directions and all parked aircraft. A 2-3 stepledder is good for spotting but taking photos through the mesh works too. |
TIME | Best light conditions are from 08:00-16:00 or in the night for parked aircraft. |
MISC. | The next facilitys are at the teminal. |

Crashgate Southwest - 10 Movements (Taxiway/Line-Up/Touchdown) + 28 Heavy Movements
WHERE | This spot is located at the crashgate at the Irrhainstraße. Park your car not directly at the crashgate but on the opposite side of the street on the grassstrip. From the terminal you can walk there, but by car you have to drive the marked route on the map! |
WHAT | From this spot you can take pictures of all Runway 10 movements and heavy 28 takeoffs/arrivals while vacating. |
TIME | Best light conditions are from 08:00-16:00. On the Taxiway until 17:00. |
MISC. | No facilities here. You need a 2-3 stepladder here. |

Irrhainstraße South - 10 Movements (Arrivals/Line-Up) + 28 Heavy Arrivals
WHERE | This spot is located a bit further up the “Irrhainstraße”. Park your car at the side of the street and don’t block it. Then just position yourself where you want south of the runway axis. |
WHAT | You can catch all aircraft arriving and lining up runway 10. In addition also the heavy 28 vacators. |
TIME | Best light conditions are from late morning until afternoon all year round for arriving aircraft. For lineup from afternoon until sunset. |
MISC. | No facilities around. You need a 2-3 Stepladder here. Heat haze can be an issue on ground shots during summer. |

Irrhainstraße North - 10 Movements (Arrivals/Line-Up) + 28 Heavy Arrivals
WHERE | This spot is located a bit further up the “Irrhainstraße”. Park your car at the side of the street and don’t block it. Then just position yourself where you want north of the runway axis. |
WHAT | You can catch all aircraft arriving and lining up runway 10. In addition also the heavy 28 vacators. |
TIME | Best light conditions for the lineup are from sunrise until 10:00. For 10 arrivals we recommend the early summer morning hours. Rest of the day it is backlit all year round. |
MISC. | No facilities around. You need a 2-3 Stepladder here. Heat haze can be an issue on ground shots during summer. |

Forrest Northwest - 10 Movements + 28 Heavy movements
WHERE | Park your car at the end of Schiestlstrasse and walk southbounds up to the fence. Then position yourself along the perimeter fence/the spot. |
WHAT | From this spot you can take all all arrivals and line ups on runway 10 and 28 heavy take offs/arrivals. |
TIME | Best light conditions for the 10 lineup are from late afternoon until sunset. For 10 arrivals we recommend the early summer morning hours only. Rest of the day it is backlit all year round. 28 movements are good on summer mornings or very late summer evenings only. |
MISC. | No facilities here. Here you need a 2-3 stepledder. |

Forrest Northeast - 28 Movements + 10 Heavy movements
WHERE | Park just west of the “Rathsbergstraße” on the small parking lot made for hikers/walkers. Then start walking along the perimeter fence until you’re at the position you like. |
WHAT | Best for 28 movements (both, heavy lineups and arrivals) and 10 arrivals plus heavy departures in the morning. |
TIME | Depends where you stand. You can shoot 28 movements either on early summer mornings or from later afternoon until sunset. 10 movements are only good in early summer hours. Rest of the day it is backlit all year round. |
MISC. | No facilities here. Here you need a small stepladder, already one step is enough, 2/3 are perfect. Heat haze can be an issue due to the distance. |

Rathsbergstraße - 28 Line-Up + Arrivals
WHERE | This spot is located as marked east of “Rathsbergstraße”. Park your car at the parking mentioned at the previous spot and marked on the map west of the street, cross the street and position yourself on the mound here. |
WHAT | Best for line ups and early morning arrivals on 28. |
TIME | Sunrise till later morning for Line-ups on 28. 28 arrivals are only during the early summer morning hours. Rest of the day it is backlit all year round. |
MISC. | No facilities here. It is better to have ladder here to clear the fence completely. Otherwise you can go up the hill a bit further up if you don’t have one but more focal length is needed then. Heat haze can be an issue due to the distance. |

Forrest Southeast - 28 Movements (Taxiway/Line-Up/Touchdown) + 10 Heavy Movements
WHERE | This spot is located along the fence just south of the runway’s eastern end. When you start from the terminal, pass the Cargo Terminal and walk along the fence until you have a clear view of the taxiway (tagged on the map). It takes you approximately 15 minutes. |
WHAT | From this spot you can shoot most RWY 28 movements plus heavy 10 departures/arrival while vacating. |
TIME | Best light conditions are from 8:00-16:00 |
MISC. | Facilities in the terminal, nothing around. 2/3 stepladder needed. Do not come here when it is wet, the way is not paved! |
FOCAL LENGTH | 18-300mm B763 twy = 40mm / C5 rwy = 130mm |
Almoshof Hill - 10 Movements + 28 Heavy Departures
WHERE | For this spot start at the terminal, pass the tower and FAI Hangar until you find a hill on the left side. With the car you have to use the marked route when you want to park next to the spot. When coming by bus you can use bus stop “Luftamt” again (marked on the map), which is served by line 30 for example. |
WHAT | From this spot you can shoot most RWY 10 movements and 28 heavy depatures. |
TIME | Best light conditions are from later morning till mid-afternoon. Night shots are possible, too. |
MISC. | No facilities around and there is often a lot of heathaze. Just really good for heavies. |
FOCAL LENGTH | 200-500mm C130 night shot = 360mm |
Rental Car Carpark - All runway movements
WHERE | This spot is located on top of the Rental Car Parking Garage. There are steps on the side where you can go up. |
WHAT | From this spot you can shoot parked aircraft near the tower and all runway 10 and 28 movements. But be careful don’t scratch any cars! |
TIME | Best light conditions are from sunrise until noon, but nightshots are also possible. |
MISC. | Closest facilities are in the terminal. Heat haze is an issue on the runway. |
FOCAL LENGTH | 200-500mm |
LHT Hangar - Eastern Apron
WHERE | This spot is located on the left side of the LHT hangar. Parking is tricky here, but you can stop by the roadside quickly. Currently, the area is under constructions thus the spot is not useable. |
WHAT | From this spot you can take taxiing aircraft on the apron. |
TIME | Best light conditions are from 08:00-11:00 |
MISC. | Closest facilities are in the terminal. No ladder recommended, shoot thru the crashgate. |

Restrooms are also available on close to the elevators on Level 0 in P2
At the spotting spot 9, you don’t particularly need a stepladder, you can go up the hill a bit more, until you are able to see over the fence. NOTE: You may need more focal length!

Hello, there is a food place called Restaurant Aeroclub on private property where you can eat so you can go there if you are going to eat.
